What's to become of Sadie the three legged dog?
MONTICELLO, MN - Everyone in Monticello has a story about the incredible comfort dog Sadie. Sadie lost her front leg when she was just a few years old, and her companion Roger, who had had two brain surgeries was homeless. But the community cared for them both.
Tow truck driver Dave Delaney would move Roger's car for free because he didn't have a license. And at the local KFC, Roger and Sadie were always welcome to stay as long as they liked. Heather Elliott-Heath was hoping to help get them both housing.
But Roger passed away, so Heather and her family thought they could look after Sadie for a while. What happened next, no one could have predicted.
Sadie and Heather's 8 year-old son Randy bonded quickly on their first night together. Diagnosed with autism at birth, Randy doesn't speak OR like dogs, but he absolutely loves Sadie.
Heather says, "She was taking care of somebody for a really long time and now she wants to take care of somebody else."
Randy has a very special companion and Sadie can continue to do what she does best, in her new home.
