TAMPA (FOX 13) - A dog is doing much better this week, thanks to a group of Florida rescuers who successfully pulled her head out from the base of a tree last Friday.
The Port Orange Police Department says Fire Rescue crews were called to the scene after a couple of Good Samaritans heard whimpering during their walk, and came across a dog whose head was completely stuck inside a hole at the bottom of a large tree.
The rescuers had their work cut out for them, but it was nothing they couldn't handle.
After calling a local veterinarian to sedate the dog, they used Jaws of Life, chainsaws and winches to gently work her free.
She was originally identified only as "Jane Dog", but in a happy update, officers say they learned her name was "Sailor" after they reunited the dog with her family.
