Valley couple has cannabis-themed wedding

TEMPE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - One special couple celebrated their love at a cannabis-themed wedding ceremony on Saturday. They were married at the Mint Dispensary in the East Valley. They say the cannabis connection they share is lifesaving.

Their special day took place at a dispensary, not a church or a country club. Anthony and Crystal Torres just got married in a medical marijuana dispensary.

They used to joke about the fantasy wedding at 4:20 pm on April 20. Why did the cannabis-loving couple actually go through with it?

"Family, friends, and cannabis," Torres said. "So what better way than at a dispensary."

But it's deeper than that. Anthony, a veteran of the Army returned several years ago with PTSD.

"I couldn't sleep for a long time after the military and I just stayed up many, many nights and tried to deal with medication and stuff like that for my injuries," Torres said. "And the pills just ended up making me sick and the only thing that helped was cannabis."

The Torres family also survived a bad car crash. It left one of their daughters paralyzed from the waist down. Now her parents are researching how concentrated cannabis can help with her seizures.

"CBD is kind of like the alternative for it," Torres said. "It's no chemicals [and it won't] affect her organs or anything. It's natural."

Now you know why their way of walking down the aisle is unorthodox but true to who they are.

"It had to be like this, this is the perfect way," Torres said.
