RNC 2024: Trump says he'll be there as planned after assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump says he’ll be attending this week’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee as planned after he was targeted in an assassination attempt at a Pennsylvania rally Saturday.

It wasn’t immediately clear if details of the big event would change to increase security. Organizers said the convention would proceed as planned.

Trump said Sunday morning in a post on his social media app Truth Social that he was looking forward to speaking to "our Great Nation" this week from Wisconsin.
