FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Schools are closed in Flagstaff and traffic is moving slowly on northern Arizona highways Tuesday due to snowfall from a storm dropping rain on desert areas further south.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says Interstate 40 between Ash Fork and Williams and in the Flagstaff area is icy and packed with snow.
Snow accumulations expected Monday through Tuesday include 8-12 inches at Flagstaff, Williams and Alpine and 3-4 inches at Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim.
The National Weather Service says rain totals of 1-2 inches are possible in lower elevations of central Arizona.
A small stream flood advisory was issued for parts of Coconino, Gila, Maricopa and Yavapai counties, and there are reports of runoff flowing through washes and over unbridged crosses in far north Phoenix.
