CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is actively looking for the suspect who shot and killed a woman overnight just outside of uptown Charlotte.
The deadly shooting occurred at 3:59 a.m. Monday, May 21 in the 900 block of North Tryon Street.
Upon arrival, officers found a woman, identified as Shalamar Venable, 39, with multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to CMC-Main with serious injuries. Police said Venable was pronounced dead a short time later at the hospital.
Detectives believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
