Suspect killed by Phoenix Police near Coronado Park, department says
PHOENIX - Phoenix Police shot and killed a suspect following an incident near Coronado Park on Sunday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 2 p.m. near McDowell Road and 12th Street on June 2.
The incident began when a person reported that an armed suspect was trying to steal their motorcycle. The suspect was spotted by police on that stolen motorcycle in an alleyway.
He allegedly had a gun that he raised in the air and fired at officers. Police officers fired back at the suspect.
"After the shooting, the suspect dropped the gun and officers moved up to provide medical aid. The fire department responded and transported the man to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. The initial victims of the robbery remained on scene and were unharmed," police said.
No officers were injured. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Joshua Main.
