PHOENIX (KSAZ) - About 1,000 people came out to St Vincent de Paul in downtown Phoenix for a Christmas meal served by volunteers and professional athletes.
Every year the athletes join with dozens of volunteers to serve Christmas dinner to the homeless.
"This is merry, this simply is what Christmas is supposed to be about, which is this kind of giving," said Nick Lowery.
Former NFL Player Nick Lowery and his foundation organized the event, and he has no problem getting current and former athletes to come.
"It is something near and dear to me; I have always done it. Nick says Mike we are going to do it, and I am here on time, every time," said Mike Davis.
St. Vincent de Paul serves the needy every day, but on Christmas, the meal brings in a huge crowd.
