Shooting investigation underway in Ahwatukee neighborhood

PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in the Ahwatukee area near 48th Street and East Elliot Road.

Authorities say they received a call about the shooting around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Quail Landing apartment complex. According to officers, there were three people upstairs inside the home that heard two gunshots. When they went to the first floor, they found their friend's body.

The back door to the home was left open.

"The suspect in this case fled the area prior to Police arrival. Detectives are currently on scene investigating and interviewing witnesses. Early indications show drug activity may be involved," stated Sgt. Alan Pfohl.

The victim's identity has not been released.

The suspect in the shooting, according to authorities, may be involved in two carjackings and a police chase that came to a deadly end in North Phoenix Wednesday afternoon. To learn more about those incidents, click here.
