Sedona's peak tourism season begins as temps drop and leaves change into fall colors

Still feeling the heat in the Valley? Why not go for a day trip?

That’s what FOX 10's Steve Nielsen did Monday to show us why Sedona is a great place to visit in the fall.

The weather might be perfect, but it has nothing on the view. People travel from all over the world to see Sedona this time of year and the tourist season is just now peaking.

"It’s beautiful. We’re from New Hampshire, so we have the white mountains and everything, but this is a whole new beautiful different ball game. It’s just more beautiful," Emily Karos said.

This is the time of the year when the red rocks light up in the sun on a 75-degree afternoon. The next few weeks are some of the busiest in Sedona as tourists come from all over and the Pink Jeeps pack the trails.

It's an important few weeks for Sedona businesses.

The leaves have just started to change. The Dia de los Muertos festival is about to get underway.

Michelle Kostecki with the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau says there is nothing better than this time of year.

"Over 80 galleries and shops, 50 restaurants, new restaurants opening all the time, becoming a culinary hot spot and yes, 400 miles of trails for hiking and biking and exploring," she said. "Beautiful time of the year because of the weather.
