PHOENIX (KSAZ) - On Sunday watch out for a lot of road closures because of the Rock N'Roll Marathon and Half Marathon taking place in downtown Phoenix. The route begins in downtown and ends in Tempe. Police will have the roads closed along the route, and some freeway off-ramps will also be closed in the morning.
With more than 20,000 runners expected to pound the pavement during Sunday's big race, it will be all hands on deck for local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Authorities have a plan in place to make sure runners make it to the finish line safe. They're not talking about specific security measures, but there are definitely increased measures taken after the recent Paris attacks and the Boston Marathon Bombing a few years back.
