CAMDEN, N.J. (WTXF/AP) - The reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot an 8-year-old Camden girl has been increased to $76,000.
FOX 29 learned that the 8-year-old girl shot in the head in Camden earlier this week died Friday afternoon. According to her family, she passed away around 4 p.m. Friday.
The little girl was hit by a stray bullet in the head during a shootout Wednesday night. Police say there was a target but it wasn't her.
"She didn't deserve that. She didn't deserve that at all."
Evinea Hall lives next door and babysits the little girl friends have identified as Gabby. Hall ran to the girl's side when she was shot while riding her bike near the corner of 8th and Spruce.
"We believe that this has gang activity tied to this. Like I said, this is an all hands on deck," said Camden County Police Chief Scott Thompson.
Back at the girl's home neighbors gathered still in shock. They say violence here is nothing new but a victim this young has this neighborhood shaken.
Gabby's funeral will be held Saturday at Faith Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ . If anyone would like to make a monetary contribution they can do so through the GoFundMe.
Anyone with information on the gunman or incident is urged to contact call Camden County Prosecutor's Office Detective Sherman Hopkins at 856 225-8623 or Camden County Police Department Detective Michael Ross at 856-757-7420. Information can also be emailed to ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.
