President-elect Donald Trump visits Phoenix

President-elect Donald Trump was back in the Valley for the first time since winning re-election.

He was the keynote speaker on Sunday, Dec. 22 at the AmericaFest convention in downtown Phoenix.

"We had the greatest economy in the history of our country, maybe in the history of any country, frankly. We did things nobody could've done. We're gonna do them better now. We're gonna be drilling. As we say, drill baby, drill," Trump said at the packed event.

Trump also announced his support for Karrin Taylor Robson if she runs for Arizona Governor again in 2026. Robson wrote on X that she's honored to have his support.

Supporters flocked to the Valley to see Trump speak, some coming from all over the country for the four-day convention held at Phoenix Convention Center.

The event comes weeks before Trump's Jan. 20 inauguration.

"People coming together," said supporter Kathy Hair. "It's about unity, right? Yeah, it's about change."

The King family traveled from California and said they wanted their two young kids, Adeline and Forest, to be part of that change.

"I'm learning a ton," Forest King said.

"To have the kiddos here, they've been able to really dig in, and they've asked us lots of questions," Karissa King said. "We've been able to respond to the questions and train them."

Trump supporters lined the streets of downtown starting at 5 a.m. to hear from and see the president-elect.

"People are feeling listened to. They're feeling wanted, and that's something the American people haven't felt in a while," said James Heart, who is visiting from Florida.

A lot of supporters are on board with the "Make America Healthy Again" movement.

"It’s important we start eating clean, whole foods and erase all the chemicals that we can," Adie Riley said.

Judi Hirsh from Las Vegas pulled out all the stops with a custom Trump dress.

"I’m a big Trump fan, and so is my sister. She had this made by a seamstress. I've been to many rallies," she said.

Larry McNaught from Florence, Arizona had on Trump merch from head to toe.

"My sister gave them to me for my 80th birthday," he said about his Trump-themed socks.

A grandmother and granddaughter duo have even made AmericaFest an annual trip.

"It's our second year together and she just, you know, she's fierce. She had four TVs going on Election Day. She’s interested in what's going on in this country," said Lynda Horabuena.

Jacquez Jones from Texas is hopeful for the future.

"I'm optimistic as a young person because I believe that we have a country that's worth fighting for," Jones said.
