Potlucks are illegal in AZ

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. (AP/KSAZ) -- Potlucks held outside the workplace are illegal in Arizona in what one lawmaker calls a major legislative oversight.

State Representative Kelly Townsend has drafted legislation that would allow potlucks anywhere.

Townsend began drafting the measure following a complaint about potlucks being held in Apache Junction despite the law. Pinal County put a stop to the party.

Potluck hosts may face a fine or even a possible arrest if someone decides to complain.

Townsend says the governor could sign off on the legislation over the summer.
