MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Police in Mesa say a 3-year-old boy who is non-verbal has been reunited with his parents after being found wandering alone around a city neighborhood.
They're now investigating how the child ended up on his own.
Police say the toddler may have been left in the area of Country Club Drive just north of the U.S. 60 around 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
They asked for the public's help to find out who the child is and who he belongs with.
Police say the boy was reunited with his parents about 6:45 p.m. According to Detective Jason Blomberg, the child remains in the Arizona Department of Child Safety's custody.
No names have been released in this case.
