SURPRISE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - It's a shocking double murder in a place that doesn't see violent crime, Surprisein the northwest valley.
Two women were found shot to death inside a Surprise home on Tuesday night.
The Surprise Police Department tells Fox 10 that the bodies of the women were found inside a home near Goldwater Ridge Drive and Clearview Boulevard. Police were performing a welfare check after receiving an out-of-state phone call requesting that officers check on the caller's mother, who was in Surprise visiting a friend.
After arriving at the home, officers found two women, who had sustained gunshot wounds.
"It's funny, yesterday we drove past the house and saw the neighborhood watch sign and said we look out for our neighbors, I just cannot even imagine what happened," said Julia Johnson.
Investigators are on the scene and are searching the home for further evidence. They say it is not clear when the women died.
The double murder has neighbors on edge.
"I am shocked, we fill this is a very comfortable and safe place to be. I have never heard that has happened before here," said Phyllis Rotellini.
