BUCKEYE, Ariz. (FOX 10) - Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the murder of a woman in Buckeye on Monday.
According to police, officers found a woman in her late-60s with critical injuries inside a home near Ash Avenue and Redwood Lane on Monday at around 2:30 a.m., after receiving a call that a woman had been attacked.
The woman, identified by police Monday night as 69-year-old Sally Haese, was located at her home with critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died.
A woman, who did not want to be identified, said she heard Haese cry.
"I was in my room and I heard her in there saying 'Ow, Ow', and I thought she fell," said the woman. "I went in, and Roxanne was on her. I couldn't see because it was dark, but I pulled her off of her she ran out of the room."
Family members then called Buckeye Police.
"Our officers got to the call, and realized a seriously injured woman by what we determined to be a hammer," said Buckeye's Chief of Police, Larry Hall.
A SWAT team searched a nearby home, however, the suspect was not inside.
Police said on Tuesday that the suspect, 29-year-old Roxanne C. Lararmart, has been arrested. She knew Haese but did not live with her. Lararmart is described by police as a transient who is known in and around the downtown Buckeye area.
"Why would you do that?" said the woman. "How come? Why did you do that? You don't know how many people you hurt. You took someone very special from us."
