Police: 3-year-old shot himself accidentally in Glendale

Police say a three-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after he accidentally shot himself in Glendale on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident happened west of the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Glendale when the boy managed to get ahold of a handgun and shoot himself.

Investigators say the boy's parents were inside the home at the time of the incident, but it is not known if there were any other children inside at the home.

Officials say the boy suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Crimes Against Children detectives were investigating the incident at the scene.
