MAMMOTH, Ariz. (KSAZ/AP) - A murder mystery is unfolding in a small Arizona town, as a couple was found shot to death in their yard back in January.
Officials with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said they have no suspects, and now, they are offering up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
"Mark was my son, my right hand man," said Joe Reynoso. His son, 34-year-old Mark Reynoso, was one of the two people killed.
"Maria was just a great person," said Marcela Desantiago. Her sister, 28-year-old Maria Desantiago, was the other person killed.
Desantiago was Reynoso's girlfriend. Both were found shot to death of their property on January 31. Reynoso's father found the bodies.
"We do believe that the suspect came here in a vehicle, either a mid-sized sedan or smaller to mid-sized pickup truck," said Captain Tami Villar with Pinal County Sheriff's Office. "Other than that, we have very little information, very limited."
Almost two years to the day of Reynoso and Desantiago's deaths, Reynoso was reportedly involved in a head-on collision on Highway 77 that killed three people in the opposing vehicle. At the time of Reynoso's death, he was charged with three counts of manslaughter, and was awaiting trial.
The timing of Reynoso's death, in light of that information, may seem peculiar, but at this point, Pinal County investigators said it is pure coincidence.
