Phoenix's Little Miss BBQ earns national praise

If you want to try Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix, you better be prepared to wait.

"If you want first dibs on whatever they have, you get here early," one person said.

This family arrived at 9:15 a.m.

"I am from Seattle Washington, and I knew how great the food was," they said. "I love BBQ and I love smoking, so this was the place to go."

This is a common site here; long lines of hungry BBQ fans.

"It's just the best BBQ out here, it really is," one person said. "It's superb. It really is. When you have it here, you realize how poor it is everywhere else."

They open at 11 a.m., and it's not uncommon for them to sell out in just a few hours.

"It's been crazy," said Scott Holmes, owner of Little Miss BBQ.

Holmes is the owner and opened the restaurant at University and 44th Street four years ago.

"We use the best meat we can possible source, we cook it as well as we can, we use all local wood here from Arizona and we take our time with it," he said.

He couldn't be prouder to know his hard work is paying off by being recognized by Yelp as the number two restaurant in the U.S. to try in 2018.

"We've always just chased our passion and had fun with it and had fun with our guests," Holmes said. "It's a great time. I love coming here. I love this place, I love talking to the line, I love this place. It's really amazing."
