PHOENIX - Phoenix police are investigating a rollover crash on New Year's Day that left one person dead and two others injured.
The crash happened just after midnight near 40th Avenue and Peoria.
Police say an SUV was heading westbound down Peoria Avenue when it rear-ended a car.
The first vehicle rolled over from the impact, and the second car lost control and hit a block wall.
A male passenger in the SUV died at the scene. Both drivers were hospitalized with minor injuries.
The SUV driver reportedly showed signs of impairment, but police say ultimately that wasn't the case.
Peoria Avenue was closed in both directions for the investigation.
