PHOENIX - Three teenage boys were detained after a stolen vehicle hit a pedestrian and crashed into a north Phoenix home early Thursday morning.
Police say at around 6 a.m., the driver struck and seriously wounded a 71-year-old man walking near 36th Drive and Aire Libre Avenue, which is just south of Bell Road.
The pedestrian remains in critical condition at the hospital.
The car then hit several other vehicles before crashing into a house. Officers say the driver ran inside the residence but eventually fled.

Man in critical condition after hit-and-run crash
Three juveniles were detained following a hit-and-run crash near 37th Avenue and Bell Road that left a man badly hurt. Police say the car was stolen and after the crash, it ended up in a home. The 71-year-old victim remains in critical condition.
Streets in the neighborhood were shut down while police searched for those involved.
The investigation eventually revealed that the car had been reported stolen.
On Sept. 8, police announced that three students at Greenway High School were taken into custody after surveillance video connected them to the crime.
One of them has been detained at a juvenile detention center, while the other two were referred and released back to their parents.
"In a quiet neighborhood like this, you know, at 6 a.m., when people are getting up going to work…they don't belong here," said a neighbor. "It's not safe."
