Phoenix police involved in a shooting near 80th Avenue and Campbell
PHOENIX, ARIZONA - The Phoenix Police Department was involved in a shooting near 80th Avenue and Campbell early Saturday morning.
Officers responded to a home for reports of domestic violence just after 5:00 a.m. They were told a suspect was inside physically assaulting his girlfriend.
Investigators say officers entered the residence and heard what sounded like a struggle and a female crying. They saw the suspect close a bedroom door and heard what sounded like a shotgun racking, so officers forced entry into the room.
Police say the suspect pointed the shotgun at the officers. That's when both officers shot the suspect.
The woman was safely removed from the room and the suspect taken into custody, then transported to a hospital to be treated. He is expected to be okay.
No officers were injured.
