Phoenix police investigating officer-involved shooting

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix police say one suspect is hospitalized and no officers are significantly injured following an officer-involved shooting.

The Phoenix Police Department says the shooting happened near 32nd Street and Southern.

One suspect has been taken to a hospital with serious injuries and no officers have been significantly injured.

It all began, according to police, around 11:30 a.m., near 48th Street and Broadway, when a man driving a stolen truck rear-ended someone. Police said the man tried to get away, and ended up hitting another car.

Neither drivers were hurt, according to police, and they actually went on to follow the suspect down to Southern, where the suspect ran a red light, collided with a cleaner's van, and flipped the stolen truck.

As drivers got out to help the driver in the cleaner's van who was hurt, police said the man driving the stolen truck climbed out and got in one of the other cars. Luckily, that driver had taken his keys Officers then pulled up to the scene shortly after.

During that time, officers said the man got out and pointed a gun at officers. That's when one of them shot the suspect down.
