Was it deliberate or just a random act of violence? That's what Phoenix police are trying to figure out after a teen was injured in a drive-by shooting while walking in a neighborhood with her friends.

Officers responded to the area around 9 p.m. Monday for a report of the shooting.

Authorities say the girl was walking on the side walk on 23rd Avenue near Highland when a car came up by her and several shots were fired from that vehicle.

The girl was transported to an area hospital and police say her wounds don't appear to be life-threatening.

At this time, police say they don't have a suspect description, but they do know what kind of car the person was driving.

"The suspect vehicle is a dark-tinted windows, older model white Chevy Caprice, last seen heading eastbound on Highland from the scene," said Officer Anthony Pankowski.
