Phoenix Police investigate deadly car crash on New Year's Day
PHOENIX - The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a deadly crash on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jan. 1 crash happened 16th and Van Buren streets around 1:15 p.m.
"Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. It was learned that 38-year-old victim, Jesus Tapia-Serrano, was driving west on Van Buren Street when he lost control of the car. He was seen driving into oncoming traffic and crashing into a pole on the south side of Van Buren Street, which resulted in his car landing on its roof," said Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower.
Jesus Tapia-Serrano, 38, died at the hospital from his injuries, police said.
