Owner of 'Endgame' bar pulls the plug
TEMPE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A downtown Tempe arcade-bar is pulling the plug at the end of May.
Ryan Scott who owns 'Endgame' says he is closing doors when his lease expires because of difficulties with ASU who owns the property.
Endgame has been around for the past two years and featured a combination of alcohol and arcade games.
Scott says ASU placed restrictions on his business including limitations on alcohol or glass on the bar patio, and that he could not advertise by placing banners or signs.
Since the announcement Monday, Scott says ASU has relaxed restrictions on the patio rules, but he thinks it may be too late.
ASU issuing the following statement on the matter: "Arizona State University is proud of the strong working relationships it maintains with its tenants, including the many successful businesses that operate safely and efficiently at ASU properties. During the term of Mr. Scott's lease, which ends in May 2016, ASU made accommodations to assist his enterprise. This included arranging an alternative remuneration plan when ASU did not receive rent payment - a significant delinquency that continues. It is our hope that our tenants flourish, and we wish Mr. Scott the best in his future endeavors."
