One person dead after wrong-way crash on I-10 near Casa Grande

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (KSAZ) - One person is dead, another injured after a wrong-way crash on the I-10 near Casa Grande.

Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers responded at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning.

"We responded to the area and there was a collision in the eastbound lanes reported that the vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane," said Trooper Gardner.

It's unclear where the driver of the wrong-way crash got onto the interstate going to wrong way.

The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead on scene.

The person in the other vehicle was transported by air to Chandler Regional.

No other vehicles were involved.

"Stay vigilant and watch out for those things. It could happen at any moment. Every driver needs to be prepared and keep their eyes on the road," Trooper Gardner said.

It's unknown if the driver was under the influence.

The crash is under investigation.
