When the man started going through the door, police say officers opened fire. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another woman was inside the apartment during the shooting. She was not hurt. Police say all three people involved in the incident were family members who lived together.

No identities were released, and no officers were hurt.

"All I know is that all three people are members of the same family, so this is a domestic-violence situation," said Det. Richard Encinas. "Son, mother and grandmother."

A witness named Justyn who lives at the apartment complex said, "I'm pretty shook up. I live with my girlfriend. She's pretty shook about it. We're trying to handle it the best we can since we are right there. We are trying our best."
