Phoenix police shoot, kill suspect after reported domestic dispute

Phoenix officers fatally shot a suspect near 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road on Wednesday night.

Police were called a neighborhood in the area just before 9 p.m. for a reported domestic dispute between a man and a woman. When they tried to detain the man, he ran away, according to Sgt. Melissa Soliz with Phoenix PD.

"After a short distance, the man stopped running and armed himself with a gun," Soliz said. "An officer gave police commands for the man to drop the gun."

At some point, two officers opened fire at the man, who was identified as 26-year-old Juan Reynoso. He died at the hospital from his injuries.

An investigation revealed that the gun in Reynoso's possession was actually a replica firearm.

Police are still investigating. No one else was hurt.
