'Not who we are': At mosque, Obama laments 'inexcusable' anti-Muslim rhetoric

President Obama delivered remarks this afternoon at a Baltimore mosque in the first visit to a U.S. mosque of his presidency.

The president lamented the fact that he's received letters recently from Muslim-American teens who are concerned about their safety and from Muslim-American adults fearful about their children being mistreated at school.

"I've had people write to me and say: I feel like I'm a second-class citizen," he noted.

Obama said that a 13-year-old girl from Ohio wrote that she's "scared," while another from Texas described herself as a "confused 14-year-old trying to find her place in the world."
