PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix police say a mother who previously went missing with her 3-year-old son has been arrested and charged with child abuse.
Phoenix police say 21-year-old Taquila Wilson and her son were reported missing after they were last seen on October 13. Wilson and her son were found on October 26, and that's when police learned that the child had multiple injuries on his legs, arms, head, neck, ears, face, torso, and back.
Three adults reported to police that they observed the child's injuries and when police asked the 3-year-old boy about his injuries, he told police them "mommy hit me."
The boy's siblings also told police that their mother, Tequila, caused the injuries with a belt, shoe, and hanger.
The 3-year-old boy was examined at Phoenix Children's Hospital and officials concluded he suffered from "cauliflower ear" as a result of trauma. Police say Wilson later admitted that she disciplined her son with belts on multiple occasions.
Wilson was booked into jail on child abuse charges.
