Mesa Police: Teens brought unloaded gun to Red Mountain High School

Police say an unloaded handgun was found in a backpack at Red Mountain High School on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the scene near Power and Brown Roads, they took two 14-year-old boys into custody.

Authorities say no threats were made.

According to the Mesa Police Department, the teens will be referred to a juvenile court for misdemeanor misconduct involving weapons.

The teens' names were not released.
