Maricopa High School warns students, parents of social media threat

MARICOPA, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Maricopa High School is warning students and parents after an anonymous threat was posted to a social media account.

According to a statement from Maricopa High School Principal Brian Winter, the threat is similar to a recent one in a nearby school district.

There will be an increased police presence on campus Tuesday.

Class will be in session at Maricopa High School, however, absences will be excused.

Students are asked to leave their backpacks at home and girls may carry small purses. Bags and large purses brought to the school will be checked and stored with the school's administration.
