PHOENIX (AP) -- Health officials in Arizona's most populous county have an action plan for the Zika virus.
Material prepared by Maricopa County health officials for presentation to the county Board of Supervisors lists trapping and testing of mosquitoes and stepped-up investigations depending on circumstances.
Zika is a disease that is mild for most people who get it but that can lead to severe brain-related birth defects if women are infected during pregnancy. The disease has swept through Latin America and the Caribbean in recent months.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a warning Monday that pregnant women should avoid travel to a Zika-stricken part of Miami.
That's after the number of people feared infected through mosquito bites in the U.S. climbed to 14.
