Law enforcement closed down both directions of travel along U.S. Highway 93. Several photos posted to social media show an armored car stopped in the middle of the road in the southbound lanes on the Nevada side.
FOX 5 Vegas reports it started around noon. Arizona Highway Patrol, Boulder City police and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were also responding to the incident. Federal agencies were also requested to the scene. Authorities believe the man in armed.
Police were seen trying to move all pedestrian traffic from the bridge. Some visitors said they heard an announcement explaining the dam was closed to tourists for the day and to make their way off. Those same witnesses said they then spotted a large police presence swarm the area.
Troopers said the suspect did not cross into Arizona and was taken into custody. Traffic on the bridge was reopened around 1:34 p.m.
