Man accused of tampering with food at Valley Target stores arrested again in California

LOS ALTOS, Calif. (AP/FOX 10) -- Authorities in California have arrested a man they say spilled bleach on grocery store food packages - something he's already accused of doing in two other states.

Authorities Monday announced last week's arrest of David Lohr at a Los Altos bus stop after he allegedly poured hydrogen peroxide in a bus.

He's facing federal food tampering charges. It's unclear whether the man, who claims he owns a roofing company in the Houston area, has an attorney.

Lohr was wanted for allegedly pouring hydrogen peroxide and bleach near rotisserie chicken and on packages of ice, shrimp, beer and eggs at stores in Sunnyvale, Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach in December and last month.

No injuries are reported.

Lohr faces similar charges in Oregon and Arizona. He was arrested last October for alleged food tampering at six Valley Target stores. The stores were located in Ahwatukee, Chandler, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe. According to a statement released by Target officials in the aftermath of the incidents across the Valley, there was potential tampering of frozen pizzas, ice cream, and fresh beef, pork, and chicken products at the stores.

"I didn't do anything wrong," said Lohr, in a phone interview with FOX 10 after his arrest. "I committed no crime. Absolutely no crime."

Lohr was asked about the pouring of chemicals during that interview, and offered a strange explanation that he was trying to remove "invisible chemicals" from the freezer case.

"Because stores security is using invisible chemicals," said Lohr. "It was one bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide. It was off their shelf from the Target. It makes the chemicals go away. I put it in the bottom of the cooler, so it was not in the food. It was not on top of the food in any way, so it had no contact with any food."
