Funeral held for Gilbert fire chief

GILBERT, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Friends, family, and fellow first responders said their final goodbyes to a Gilbert fire battalion chief.

Funeral services for James Nelson were held at Mission Community Church near Power and Elliot Roads on Monday morning.

Nelson passed away from an aneurysm last week after spending a week in the ICU in critical condition.

The day after his death, several Valley fire and police departments stepped up and gave his daughter, Shelley, a special ride for her first day of school at Campo Verde High School.
