Frontier Airlines problems: Passengers deal with delays, cancellations

Holiday travel always comes with headaches, but for passengers on one particular airline, things were really bad Monday night.

Frontier Airlines passengers were plagued with delays and cancelations and the problem has apparently been going on for a few days now.

So what's the issue? Well, it depends on who you ask.

We're hearing this problem stems from two possible issues. Frontier officials have said the weather has caused these delays and cancelations. This is what passengers have told us they're being told -- while the Airline Pilots Association is blaming poor management for the trouble with Frontier -- and some passengers have heard it's some sort of strike causing the issue.

Regardless of what the issue is, hundreds of people have been stranded because of it and might not make it home for Christmas.

"I just sat there and thought gosh, I have to get home for Christmas and I have to work this week," said Sandy Russell.

Brock McCullough added, "I've flown a lot in my life and I've never seen anything like this before."

Dozens of restless passengers at Sky Harbor Airport crowded the Frontier Airlines ticket counter, hoping for some answers. Passengers like McCullough, who is trying to get to Cleveland, say they've been getting the run around after dozens of flights were delayed or canceled.

"Showed up for that flight and 15 minutes before that flight was supposed to leave, they text me again saying it was going to be delayed again and then at 3:50 they text me saying it was going be delayed until 4:00, but there was no crew, no plane, nobody there to tell us anything else. Then at 4:50 they text me saying it was leaving at 5:00. Still no plane, still no crews, still nobody there to tell us anything else," he said.

McCullough finally gave up and went home.

Russell was trying to get home from Cleveland on Sunday night when her Frontier Airlines flight was canceled.

"They told us it was due to weather, even though there was no weather in Cleveland. No bad weather. Other airlines were leaving in and out of Cleveland," she said.

Russell booked with another carrier and made it home.

Both Russell and McCullough say Frontier has stated that they will refund their money.

We also spoke with some people who've been stranded since Saturday because of this issue. We were also told police had to come to the Frontier ticket line because people were so upset.
