Family, friends remember Good Samaritan killed in Monday crash

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities have identified two people killed when a SUV smashed into an accident scene on Interstate 17 in north Phoenix as several Good Samaritans aided a motorcyclist injured in an earlier wreck.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says those killed Monday were the motorcyclist, 38-year-old Johnny Youngblood of Phoenix, and 53-year-old Beverly Click of Sun City, one of the Good Samaritans. Two other people aiding Youngblood were injured.

The DPS identified the SUV driver as 34-year-old Brian Higbee of Phoenix. Higbee was reportedly not impaired, but may have been distracted or drowsy.

Friends and family gathered at St. Vincent de Paul Tuesday to remember Click. People who knew her said they are not surprised at all that she would stop and help the injured motorcyclist, as that was the type of person she was.

"She was a truly wonderful and beloved person," said Steve Zabilski, Executive Director at St. Vincent de Paul. "It's still hard to imagine, and when we reflect on this, she was truly living the gospel of the Good Samaritan."

Beverly, or "Bev" to her friends, is remembered as a loving person who was already doing what she could to help out others. She was a foster parent, and a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul.

"She was very selfless, kind, and always looking out for other people," said Christopher Hoffman, a friend.

"Everything about her was about helping others," said Danny James.

The fatal wreck remains under investigation Tuesday.
