One word is starting to gain traction recently on TikTok after the term appeared in a video of a popular social media influencer.

People are posting satiric videos on TikTok explaining how viewers can act "demure" and "mindful."

Why is Demure trending on TikTok?

The "demure" trend went viral this week because of TikTok videos posted by TikTok influencer Jools Lebron. On Aug. 2, she posted a "demure" video that amassed millions of views, and Lebron shared other videos acting "demure" in daily situations like the workplace and when boarding an airplane. She also posted a separate video about being "mindful," that was viewed by millions on TikTok.

Lebron’s videos have also resulted in comments from Google, e.l.f. Cosmetics and United Airlines, Forbes reported.

Other well-known TikTok users like Bob the Drag Queen are using the "demure" trend. The drag performer used a portion of one of Lebron’s "demure" videos in a post to describe how to apply makeup.

Another TikTok user, Claudine James, who is also an English teacher, shared a video explaining what demure means.

A hashtag for #demure has received a ton of views and attention from TikTok users, with interest in the hashtag soaring since Aug. 5, per TikTok analytics.
