An investigation is underway after a body was found in a Phoenix canal over the weekend near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road.

PHOENIX - A dead body was found inside a Phoenix canal on Sunday morning, the police department said.

What we know:

The Dec. 21 discovery was made near 35th Avenue and Indian School Road at around 10:20 a.m.

"Information on the identity of the person, as well as how the person died are all part of the investigation. That investigation may take some time," Phoenix Police said.
