PHOENIX (KSAZ) - First responders rescued a hiker who was hanging from a ledge on Papago Mountain early Thursday morning.
The Phoenix Fire Department says along with Tempe fire crews, firefighters were called to the mountain just before 1 a.m. after two men in their 20s were trapped on a ledge near the top of Papago Mountain.
Firefighters say the two men began their hike at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday night and one of the men was eventually able to get down on his own.
A helicopter was called into locate the second hiker, who ended up hanging 20 feet from a ledge with one hand.
Once they found him, firefighters were able to help him safely walk down the mountain.
