A little boy is being honored Thursday at the Covington Police Department after he decided to dress up as injured Officer Matt Cooper for Halloween.

"Max Smith could have been Batman, Ironman, or Spider-Man, but he chose to be 'our man' Officer Matt Cooper," the police department said on Facebook, sharing an adorable photo of Max.

After learning about Max's costume, Covington Police invited him to the police department Thursday. The visit is scheduled for 11 a.m.

Officer Cooper was shot in the head on Monday, September 3, while responding to a shoplifting call at a Walmart. He underwent emergency surgery at Grady Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Atlanta's Shepherd Center for brain injury rehabilitation.

Cooper remains at Shepherd Center where he continues to recover.
