Child pulled from Queen Creek backyard pool

Officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office say the incident, which happened in the area of Riggs Road and Sossaman, left a three-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries.

A three-year-old child has been taken to the hospital following a backyard pool incident in Queen Creek, according to officials with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Per a statement, the incident happened in the area of Riggs Road and Sossaman. Deputies responded to the scene at around noon, following a report of a drowning.

"Upon deputy's arrival, a 3-year-old boy was pulled from a backyard pool by a family member. The child was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries," read a portion of the statement. "It is unknown how long the child was underwater."
