WILLIAMS, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Officials with the Coconino County Sheriff's Office say the suspect connected to Wednesday's armed barricade situation was arrested after he shot himself in the leg.
According to a statement released Thursday afternoon, the suspect, identified as Matthew Solan, was wanted for questioning in relation to a report of aggravated assault and kidnapping. CCSO received a report earlier on Thursday, where the person reporting the crime said Solan used a gun to hold him against his will on the evening of January 28, in an area north of Williams.
Solan, according to the statement, was stopped by CCSO deputies and Williams Police Department officers at a traffic stop on eastbound Route 66. During the traffic stop, the driver and another passenger left the car, but Solan barricaded himself in the car instead. The incident ended at around 6:30 p.m., when Solan placed a gun next to his leg, and shot himself in the leg. He surrendered himself soon after, and was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for further treatment.
CCSO officials say Solan has been booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including kidnapping, aggravated assault, weapons violations, resisting arrest, and probation violation.
