PHOENIX (FOX 10) - For 16 years, the Children's Cancer Network has been making those affected by childhood cancer feel like stars during their annual fashion show, Inspirations, and this year is no different.
Even though the Beatles hit "All You Need is Love" was released about 52 years ago, the meaning still stands true, especially at the Children's Cancer Network's signature fundraising event, Inspirations, and "All You Need is Love" is this year's theme.
"We have 45 survivors and their brothers and sisters in the show and each of them walk the runway with pride to share their stories, share their vision of hope, and their future," said Patti Luttrell, Executive Director of Children's Cancer Network.
Executive Director Patti Luttrell says even though this is the 16th year of the event, each fashion show feels like the first one. That's because each show features childhood cancer survivors and their siblings. Patti adds it's a chance to showcase their personalities.
"Some kind of walk very sweetly and some just own that runway and take it over so it's a lot of fun to see what they like to do," said Luttrell.
The children model clothes they've picked out themselves while the emcee shares a bit about their personal journey with cancer. After the catwalk, several items go up for auction to help raise funds, ultimately to keep the life-saving support services provided by Children's Cancer Network.
"We provide services for families from the moment of diagnosis all the way to long term survivorship or wherever that journey might take them, everything from gas cards and food cards to adopt a family programs," said Luttrell.
