Ben & Jerry's releases ice cream flavor in support of Kamala Harris

Last year, Vice President Kamala Harris went viral after talking about a coconut tree. Now she’s getting her own coconut ice cream flavor.

On Thursday, MoveOn, a progressive public policy advocacy group, announced it would be partnering with Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerrry Greenfield to release a special Kamala Harris-inspired ice cream flavor

The group said it would raffle off free, limited-edition, autographed pints of the ice cream called Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee at a "Scoop the Vote" tour, which kicks off on September 16 in Philadelphia. The group will travel to key swing states and districts across the country in an ice cream truck handing out free ice cream in an effort to reach and engage voters.

MoveOn also plans to serve other electorally-themed ice cream flavors that include, "Unburdened by What has Vanilla Bean," "Inauguration Celebration Birthday Cake," "Fight For Our Rights Sorbet" and "MoveOn Mobilizer Milk Chocolate."

MoveOn announced it would also be collaborating with Jeni Britton, the founder of Jeni’s Ice Creams, and Malai Ice Cream in New York City on the tour.

"Excitement and joy are on our side right now, but we cannot lose sight of how close this election will be. A few thousand votes will decide whether we live under a democracy with Kamala Harris or a dictatorship with Donald Trump," MoveOn’s political action executive director Rahna Epting said. "MoveOn’s Scoop the Vote Ice Cream Truck Tour will meet voters where they are and help mobilize our communities to defeat Trump once and for all this fall."

The tour will also stop in Ann Arbor, Michigan; Madison, Wisconsin; Phoenix and Las Vegas. You can find MoveOn’s Scoop the Vote tour’s full schedule here.

"You can lick and say you care all you want, but if you’re not going for the big scoop –  to get registered and vote –  at the end of the day, all you’ve got is some drips down your shirt. Go big. Scoop the vote," Cohen said in a statement.

The tour will support the organization’s $32 million 2024 election program, which aims to persuade and mobilize infrequent "surge" voters in key districts to vote for Democrats up and down the ballot.

Harris and Trump are currently in a very tight race following Tuesday’s debate. While Harris holds a slight national lead against Trump, the two candidates are close in several swing states.

Flash polls and unscientific surveys overwhelmingly favored Harris in terms of who won Tuesday night’s debate. Polls from KTVU, FOX 5 DC, CNN, and Newsweek all had more votes for Harris when asked who won based on their performance. When LiveNOW from FOX asked viewers who they thought won, a majority (68%) voted for Trump over Harris (31%). Another 1% thought there was no clear winner.
