Arizona Snowbowl enjoys white Christmas with snowfall in the upper mountains of Flagstaff

Very few places in the arid southwest were able to enjoy a white Christmas. One of the lucky few was Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff.

The ski and snowboard resort posted photos from its X account of a new blanket of fresh powder on Wednesday morning.

The layer of snow fell on a narrow portion of the upper mountains of Snowbowl, located on the western slope of Humphreys Peak.

Humphreys Peak is the high point of elevation in Arizona.

Standing at an elevation of 12,633 feet, the peak and the resort are both part of the San Francisco Mountain range in Coconino National Forest.

The National Weather Service in Flagstaff, however, expected more snow to fall in the city center.

According to a post on their X page, the majority of the snow fell above the 6,500-foot elevation mark, leaving the main downtown area with the green Christmas most other places in the state experienced.
