PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- The owners of a Phoenix bridal shop that suddenly closed their doors earlier this year, leaving dozens of brides in a lurch, is now facing legal trouble.
The Attorney General's office is suing the owners of Pearl Bridal.
Taylor James was just one of the brides we talked to back in May after Pearl Bridal closed and locked their doors.
Her wedding dress arrived in a Home Depot box, wrinkled, dirty and with a note.
"I'm sorry to inform you that Pearl Bridal is closing. We wnt to make sure you receive your gown."
Attorney General Mark Brnovich has now filed a civil lawsuit against Pearl Bridal and it's owners, Eric and Tyson Miltenbeger.
The AG claims the couple engaged in false advertising and deceptive practices. They collected pre-payments of wedding dresses, then abruptly shut down, leaving $275,000 in orders unfulfilled.
Kandy Mantepagno says she spent $1,100 on a dress she never received.
When Pearl Bridal closed, the owners said Illness and bad reviews had taken a toll on the company, and that they were filing for bankruptcy.
According to the complaint filed by the AG's office, 286 bridges ordered and paid for dresses they never received.
The complaint also claims that the owners posed as shoppers and wrote positive reviews for the company only.
The state is seeking restitution and civil penalities.
